Our Practice:
Jabberjaws specializes exclusively in pediatric speech, language and feeding/swallowing disorders. Our therapists have specific and extensive training in neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention for children of all ages. Our specialties include neonatal care and follow-up, pediatric feeding and swallowing, sensory-integrative based therapy, language intervention, pragmatic/social skills development, oral sensory/motor function, phonological deficits, literacy and pre-literacy development, and augmentative/pre-augmentative communication for motorically impaired children. We currently hold contracts with several community organizations that coordinate care for children with special needs.
With a clientele of over 150 children and a consultative caseload of over 180, we are one of the largest practices in southern Nevada. Our therapists are frequently sought out within the medical community for our expertise in pediatric feeding and swallowing, as well as our specialization in medically-complex cases.

Cost of Therapy:
Evaluation: A comprehensive assessment of your childs skills will generally require 1-1 1/2 hours at a rate of $150-$180.
Treatment: Therapy sessions will be conducted for 30-55 minutes depending on your child's needs and tolerance. Therapy is billed at a rate of $100 per session.
We accept a range of insurance plans and as a courtesy to our patients we will be happy to consider billing uncontracted insurance carriers on an individual basis.
Reduced rates are available for those who qualify. For specific details please call the office.
When to be Concerned:
By 12 Months
- Does not use a variety of vowel & consonant sounds during vocalization
- Does not babble strings of consonant-vowel sounds
- No turn-taking/sound imitation
- Does not request items by using a gesture + sound
- Does not follow simple, familiar directions with gesture cues (pointing)
- No word attempts
- Does not finish recommended feeding amounts within 20 minutes or has excessive fluid leakage
- Does not transition to pureed or textured foods
- Does not show recommended weight gain
By 18 Months
- Less than 10 word vocabulary
- Does not follow most familiar directions
- Does not maintain eye contact during interactions
- Does not consistently initiate verbal interactions
- Does not include most of the following sounds in word attempts (b, p, m, n, t, d, k, g)
- Does not show an interest looking at books
By 2 years
- Less than 50 word vocabulary
- No 2-word combinations
- Does not follow 2-step or unfamiliar directions
- Does not include the above sounds plus (n, w) in words
- Does not show an interest in book reading
- Does not tolerate chewy foods
- Continues to drool after teething ceases
By 3 years
- Does not use simple, complete 3-4 word sentences
- Does not relay simple personal events using sentences
- Does not follow most unfamiliar and multi-step directions
- Does not appropriately answer most simple questions
- Does not include (f, v, y, ng) in words
- Continues to repeat the first sounds of words (b-b-b-ball)
- Does not pretend to read books
By 4 years
- Does not relay events or maintain conversation using complex sentences
- Does not include (s, z, sh, ch, j, l, r, th) in words
- Does not sound play with rhyming
By 5-6 years
- Does not recognize letters or letter sounds
- Does not break down words into sounds (bat starts with a /b/ sound)
- Does not sound out simple words (cat, big)
- Does not meet grade expectations for reading or spelling
Clinical Staff:
The Jabberjaws partners have over 30 years combined experience in the practice of speech pathology. Chrissy, Julie, and Wendy have worked together for years and share a commitment and vision for providing quality specialized intervention to the children of southern Nevada.
The partners each possess a masters degree in speech-language pathology, have passed the national examination in speech-language pathology, are certified by the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association, and are licensed to practice in the state of Nevada. Each therapist specializes in pediatric intervention and has extensive experience with medically complex cases.
